4.1

Iveco 4.1 – Engine ECU (IVECO EDC MS6.2 SW 5.X Control Unit): OFF Turbine Drive Pressure Sensor

Descrizione del problema

Indicates a malfunction in the circuit or reading of the sensor that measures exhaust gas pressure before it enters the turbocharger turbine. The 'OFF' designation means the sensor signal is missing, out of range, or completely dead.

Verifica la causa

  1. Live Data Check: Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the sensor's pressure reading with the Key On, Engine Off (KOEO). It should read atmospheric/barometric pressure (approx. 14.7 psi / 1 bar). If it reads artificially high (e.g., 35-50 psi) while the engine is off, the sensor is internally shorted or faulty.

  2. Inspect the Feed Pipe: Check the metal tube or rubber hose connecting the sensor to the exhaust manifold for ruptures, cracks, or severe exhaust leaks.

  3. Check for Carbon Blockages: Disconnect the sensor from the feed pipe. Briefly start the engine and feel for exhaust gas pulsing out of the pipe. If there is no pressure felt, the pipe is completely clogged with soot/carbon and must be cleaned out or replaced.

  4. Wiring Inspection: Inspect the 3-pin electrical connector and wiring harness for melting (due to exhaust heat), corrosion, or chafing.

Passaggi di riparazione

  1. Locate the Sensor

The sensor is typically mounted on a bracket at the top rear of the engine, near the exhaust manifold or firewall, connected via a small pipe to the pre-turbine exhaust stream.

  2. Disconnect

Turn the ignition off. Depress the locking tab and remove the electrical connector from the sensor.

  3. Remove the Sensor

Remove the securing clip or unbolt the sensor from its mounting bracket. Loosen the upper hose clip and pull the sensor out of the feed hose/pipe.

  4. Clear the Line

If you haven't already, verify the feed pipe is clear of carbon. Use a pick or compressed air to clear the port if necessary (do this with the sensor removed so you don't damage the new sensor diaphragm).

  5. Install New Part

Push the new sensor into the hose/pipe and tighten the hose clip. Secure the sensor back onto its mounting bracket.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector back in until it clicks.

  7. Reset

Connect a diagnostic tool to clear the EDC fault codes. Some Iveco systems require an 'Exhaust Back-Pressure Sensor Adaptation' or reset procedure to zero out the learned values in the ECU.
