Iveco 24 – ECAS (Electronically Controlled Air Suspension) Control Unit: Right rear pressure sensor malfunction

The system has detected an open circuit or a short circuit to ground on the right rear pressure sensor circuit.

   Verify symptoms such as intermittent mid-lift axle problems (e.g., the axle won't lift or won't transfer weight to the back axle).

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the right rear pressure sensor (usually mounted right above the air suspension bag). A broken wire here is a highly common root cause.

   Check the continuity between the sensor connector pins and the ECAS control unit. Verify that there is no short to ground or open circuit in the harness.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If a broken wire or chafed harness is found during the diagnostic checks, repair the wiring, clear the fault codes, and test the suspension operation.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring and connectors are intact and test within specification, the right rear pressure sensor has failed internally and must be replaced. Depressurize the relevant air circuit before removing the sensor.

   Install New Sensor

   Thread the new sensor into the mounting port (standard thread is M16x1.5) and torque to OEM specifications. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   System Recalibration (Crucial Step)

   After replacing an ECAS pressure sensor (or suspension linkage bushes), the ECAS system *must* be recalibrated using a diagnostic tool (such as WABCO diagnostic software or an Iveco dealer tool). If the system is not recalibrated, the ECAS auto-level system can overcompensate, causing the suspension to jack to its maximum height or throw secondary axle pressure faults.
