Case IH 5 1 – Hitch Controller: Right Draft Pin Failure

Descrizione del problema

The system has detected an abnormal voltage reading or an open/short circuit from the right-hand load pin sensor, which disables the draft sensing function and can prevent the hitch from raising or operating properly.

Verifica la causa

  1. Check the Hitch Controller Diagnostics to view the 'r offset' (the count number of the no-load voltage reading on the right load pin). A reading outside the normal baseline indicates a failed sensor or wiring issue.

  2. Visually inspect the wiring harness and the plastic weather connectors leading to the right draft pin. Look for pinched wires, corrosion, or moisture inside the connector that could cause a short or open circuit.

  3. Test the load pin sensor itself. If the wiring is intact and the connector is clean, the load pin has likely failed internally.

Passaggi di riparazione

  1. Lower the hitch and turn off the tractor

Option A (Install Elimination Kit): Lower the hitch to the ground and turn off the tractor.

  2. Locate wiring harness connectors

Option A: Locate the wiring harness connectors for both the left and right draft load pins.

  3. Disconnect factory wiring harness

Option A: Disconnect the factory wiring harness from the defective load pins.

  4. Plug in elimination modules

Option A: Plug the two Electronic Load Sensing Elimination Modules directly into the tractor's wiring harness.

  5. Secure modules and wiring

Option A: Secure the modules and wiring safely out of the way using the provided tie wraps.

  6. Restart the tractor

Option A: Restart the tractor; the diagnostic system will no longer detect the pins, the code will clear, and draft sensing will be permanently disabled.

  7. Lower the hitch to the ground

Option B (Replace Right Load Pin): Lower the hitch to the ground to remove all mechanical tension from the lower links.

  8. Disconnect wiring harness

Option B: Disconnect the wiring harness from the right load pin.

  9. Remove retaining hardware

Option B: Remove the retaining hardware (snap rings or retaining bolts) holding the right draft pin in the hitch casting.

  10. Remove old load pin

Option B: Drive the old load pin out of the lower link arm.

  11. Install new load pin

Option B: Clean the bore, install the new OEM load pin, and secure it with the retaining hardware.

  12. Reconnect wiring harness

Option B: Reconnect the wiring harness.

  13. Perform hitch calibration

Option B: Perform a hitch calibration procedure via the tractor's instrumentation to zero out the new load pin's reference voltage.
