Case IH 14 – Hitch Controller / Tractor Control Unit (TCU): Open circuit connection to load sensing pin, short circuit to ground or failed load sensing pin

The controller is not receiving the correct voltage signal from the right-hand draft load sensing pin. The system uses these pins to measure the draft load on the 3-point hitch. When the circuit fails, the hitch draft control will not function properly.

   Remove any attached implements to ensure the load sensing pins are not under physical draft loading

   Inspect the load sensing pin connectors and microprocessor connectors for corrosion, backed-out pins, or damage

   Use a multimeter to test the wiring harness between the load sensing pin and the controller for an open circuit or short to ground, wiggling the harness to check for intermittent drops

   If equipped with a digital instrument cluster, check the 'H' diagnostic menu (channel 34). A value of approximately 48 strongly indicates an intermittent circuit in the harness

   Repair Wiring

   If the multimeter test reveals a short or open circuit in the harness, repair the damaged wire or replace the harness section.

   Replace the Pin

   If the harness and connectors test good, the load sensing pin itself has failed internally and must be replaced.

   Install Elimination Kit

   If you do not use the draft sensing function, install a Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit. Disconnect the factory load sensing pins, plug the elimination modules directly into the factory harness using the provided weather-pack connectors, and secure the modules with tie-wraps.

   Module Replacement

   If the fault re-occurs after replacing the pin/installing the bypass and verifying the harness, the General Control Module (GCM) may need to be reflashed with correct software or replaced.
